The good: The 535i has a high level of available infotainment technology and driver aid features, including a Park Assist feature that automates parallel parking. Performance is good and efficiency is up despite this being a larger, more spacious sedan than years prior.

2011 BMW 535i gets thumbs up from Jeremy Clarkson

Known for his adversity towards majority of BMW vehicles, Jeremy Clarkson has pleasantly surprised us this time. In his review for Times Online, Clarkson praises the new BMW 5 Series and clocks “THE CLARKSOMETER” at four star out of five.

Clarkson’s verdict: basically, it’s a very, very good Austin Seven.

Let us take the BMW 535i as a classic example of the problem. The seats are pretty much perfect: they’re not too hard and not too soft and the side bolsters don’t dig into your kidneys but do provide just the right amount of support in the corners. Read more…

The 2011 BMW 5 Series went live on BMWUSA.com. As with any other BMW vehicles, the online configurator gives you the option to customize the new 5 Series to your liking, starting with the exterior colors and moving inside where several trims and leather options are available.

In the U.S., BMW offers a choice of two variants: 535i, powered by the 3.0 liter single turbocharged twin-scroll engine, and the 550i, V8 twin-turbo engine. The base price for the 535i was set at 49,600, while the top model sells for 59,700. Read more…

Built under the F10 codename, the 5 Series luxury sedan emphasizes the new design language from BMW, with more fluent and harmonious lines that are appealing to a larger audience.

As a sporty luxury sedan that wants to live up to its name, the new 2011 BMW 5 Series is an impressive contender on track as well. Our own Shawn Molnar had a chance to test the car for two full days on track.
